Kartik, also known as the month of Damodara, is a month for deepening one’s love for Krishna. It is proclaimed in the Puranas to be the holiest month of the year.
“Among all twelve months, the month of Kartik is dear to Lord Krishna. If somebody performs a little worship of Lord Sri Hari in this month, that devotee is offered His own abode.” – Padma Purana
This year the month of Kartik (Damodar) begins 17 Oct, 2024 (Thursday) and ends on 15 Nov, 2024 (Friday).
“The month of Kartik is the topmost of all other months. It is the most meritorious and purified of all other pure months.” Skanda Purana
Any devotional service done during Kartik is magnified immensely. Devotees meditate on the pastime of Mother Yashoda tying up Krishna with the rope of her love. This month is also dedicated to Srimati Radharani, the Mother of Devotion.
Every evening at Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir there will be offering of lamps along with the recitation of the beautiful Damodarastakam prayers of Satyavata Muni found in Padma Purana.
